Michael J Posner (Shareholder; Board Certified Real Estate Attorney) has been recognized by Law & Politics magazine, for the third consecutive year, as a “Florida Super Lawyer”. The Super Lawyers selection process is based on peer nominations, blue ribbon panel review and independent research.  Only five percent of Florida attorneys were named to the list.

Scott J. Wortman, formerly a partner at Pineiro, Wortman and Byrd, P.A. joined the Firm as a Partner on June 20, 2000 and will continue here his practice in Real Estate Law, Business & Corporate Law and Institutional Banking.  Mr.Wortman is admitted to practice in Florida, New York and New Jersey.

Ellen D’Arcangelo (Employment Law, Complex Litigation) presented a seminar on the new Florida gun law, the NRA-backed Preservation and Protection of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Motor Vehicle’s Act of 2008, to members of Florida TEC groups.  TEC is an international affiliation of Chief Executive Officers.

Michael J Posner (shareholder; board certified real estate attorney) served as Panelist at the 2008 Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund Annual Seminar in front of an estimated 2,000 real estate attorneys and professionals in Orlando, Florida.

Michael Weeks (Litigation Chair) served Sunfest 2008 as Board Member and Membership Co-Chairman; Nadine Castillo (Commercial Litigation; Criminal Defense) served as Vice Chair of the Risk Management Committee. Founded in 1982, Sunfest attracts more than 275,000 visitors to downtown West Palm Beach, and is billed as Florida’s Largest Music, Art and Waterfront Festival.

Ellen D’Arcangelo (Employment Law, Complex Litigation) was named to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and Hospital, an animal rescue facility located in Jupiter, Florida.  Ms. D’Arcangelo serves as Secretary of the Board.

Michael J. Posner (Shareholder, Board Certified Real Estate Attorney) was one of the featured Panelists at the Palm Beach County Law Symposium on February 19, 2008.  The symposium was presented by the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches, in partnership with the Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County.

Employees of Ward Damon & Posner, P.A. joined once again with friends and family to  participate as a team in the fifth annual Run/Walk For the Love of Children.  This year’s event was held at Carlin Park in Jupiter, FL on February 16, 2008.  Hundreds of walkers contributed their time, energy and talents to make the 2008 event the most successful one yet. The Run/Walk benefits the Children’s Home Society of Florida, and is hosted by the Gold Coast Guild.

The Ralph E. Boyer Institutes on Real Property and Condominium Law presented the Twentieth Institute on Real Property Law in Miami, Florida on October 31, 2007. Sponsored by the University of Miami School of Law, the Institute presented current topics of considerable interest to attorneys and related professionals involved in real estate transactions, development and finance.  A guest lecturer at the Institute, Michael J Posner (shareholder; board certified real estate attorney) presented “Real Estate Financing Updates – Special Needs Financing - Bridge Loans, Loan Syndications, Private Equity”.

Ellen D’Arcangelo joined the firm on September 10, 2007. She is a senior litigation attorney with a particular expertise in employment law. She received her J.D. from Pepperdine University (1991) and a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida. She is admitted to practice in Florida and California.

Friday evening, June 1, 2007, more than two hundred and fifty celebrants gathered together with the attorneys and staff of Ward Damon & Posner, P.A. for a Cocktail Reception to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Firm on June 1, 1987. 

By a three to one vote, the West Palm Beach City Commission voted to appoint Michael Weeks (Litigation Dept Chair) as the new District One Commissioner.  Commissioners chose Mr. Weeks from a pool of eleven applicants.  Commissioner Weeks will serve until a new District One Commissioner is sworn in following the March 13, 2007 election.

Michael Weeks (Litigation Dept Chair), who joined the firm in March 2005, has been named a Partner.  Mr. Weeks will continue his practice as head of the Firm’s litigation department with an emphasis in the areas of commercial litigation and telecommunications law.  Mr. Weeks is admitted to practice before all Florida State Courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
